Norse Group support a growing number of care homes across the region in delivering a full catering service for their residents. Our service is centred on using locally sourced produce to prepare healthy meals throughout the day.

Our Norfolk based team currently have a new vacancy for an Assistant Cook, giving you the opportunity to assist in the running of the kitchen of Westfields Care Home in Swaffham. 

You will use your catering and culinary knowledge to help prepare, cook and deliver tasty and nutritious meals to the residents of the home. You will help the area manager define menu choices with the clients, utilising freshly sourced produce to create healthy meals.

Role Details:

This role will offer you 16.5 hours per week, on the following rota:

  • Week 1 – Tuesday 07:30-14:30 & 15:00-18:30 and Wednesday 07:30-14:30
  • Week 2 – Tuesday 07:30-14:30 and Wednesday 07:30-14:30 & 15:00-18:30

Our Ideal Candidate:

It is expected that you can bring a combination of experience, knowledge and aptitude to the role, demonstrated by; 

  • Previous experience in a hands-on cooking / catering role 
  • Capable of managing the daily operations of catering staff
  • Knowledge of menu design and planning 
  • Understanding of kitchen health & safety guidelines
  • Confident communicating with a variety of clients and colleagues

Whilst previous catering experience would be a great help to you, it is not a requirement. We would also like skilled and passionate home cooks to apply for the position as full and comprehensive training and support will be given to the successful applicant.
