NPS Barnsley continue to add a range of property work to their portfolio, and as such need to recruit a Commercial Heating Engineer to join the Barnsley office. This role will form part of our multi-disciplined engineering team, and you will be responsible for providing commercial gas and heating services for our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

This will be a customer service orientated role, where you will ensure high quality services are delivered to our clients. You will be responsible for:

  • Installing and maintaining domestic and commercial gas boilers
  • Carrying out mechanical repairs and installations to current British standards
  • Gas metal arc welding to certified standard
  • Diagnostics and fault-finding on a range of gas and heating equipment
  • Periodic testing and safety reporting on gas and heating equipment

It is essential that you have received relevant training and hold the relevant industry qualifications, alongside proven experience in a similar role. You will demonstrate your knowledge, certifications, and experience with:


  • Commercial Gas Qualifications – COCN1, CORT1, CIGA1, TPCP1 & Unvented Hot Water
  • Domestic Gas Qualifications – CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT1, CKR1 & HTR1
  • City & Guilds (or equivalent), Heating & Ventilation


  • Proven commercial experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of and experience working on commercial and domestic gas systems
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations and their application in this working environment
  • Previous experience with installations, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces
