Salary: £19,312 - £19,698 per annum (£8,879 - £9,057 pro rata)

We are looking for an Assistant Chef to join the catering team at Rushden Primary Academy.

The role:

We are looking for an Assistant Chef to join the catering team. In this role you will be required to support the Chef to deliver a first class food service at the Academy.

You must have:

  • a knowledge of health and safety legislation in a kitchen
  • Have knowledge of HACCP and due diligence procedures.
  • a first class understanding of food hygiene regulations
  • a sound knowledge of catering practice
  • the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • great organisational skills

It is preferable that you have a background of working in schools although this is not essential. If you are innovative, hardworking, with a passion for catering and a will to consistently deliver a superior service we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate will have a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate alongside experience preparing and serving food.     Holding a NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Catering and Hospitality, experience working within education and a knowledge of the government nutritional guidelines and an understanding of food allergies would all be advantageous.

The working pattern for this role is 9.30am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks)

The Rushden Primary Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust, opened in September 2015 and will grow year on year until it reaches full capacity in September 2021.  The Academy boasts a state-of-the-art building with a dedicated team, led by the Principal Liza Davies, who aims to provide a vibrant, purposeful environment for children to learn. They are passionate about helping all children to succeed, supporting their development to become sociable members of the community.
