Description

 

We have an opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to join us as a Health and Safety Officer.

We would be happy to consider term time only or part time options. We can discuss your requirements at interview.

In this role you’ll be a centre of knowledge, supporting our Academies and coaching senior management in relation to our health and safety responsibilities.

Gaining buy in from your internal stakeholders is vital when driving forward our health & safety initiatives; therefore you will need to be engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.   To make this role a true success, it’s desirable that you meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in a health and safety role, preferably education across multiple sites.
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to work alone but also as an integral part of a team
  • A relevant health and safety qualification e.g.  NEBOSH general certificate, diploma or      equivalent
  • Ability to work with, engage and influence stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally;
  • Ability to work in a fast moving environment identifying trends and devising strategies to maintain legal compliance.

This role will support the development of improvement strategies across our Academies to ensure we take an innovative and forward thinking approach towards health and safety. All advice given to managers and colleagues needs to be sound and accurate, therefore you must show willingness to engage in all legal updates and developments in the health and safety community.

We can be flexible regarding location for this post as there will be some travel between our regions. Our Education Support Team are based in Nottingham and we have academies around Peterborough, the East Coast and Northampton, therefore we could accommodate someone based centrally or within any of those areas. You will be an integral part of the wider team and will be required to work from our central office in Nottingham on occasion if you are based elsewhere. You will work in a supportive team of three within Health and Safety and will be supported by the Health and Safety Manager and be a member of the Operations Directorate.

Due to travel requirements a full driving licence and own transport is essential.
